Refund and Cancellation Policy

This policy explains how cancellations and refunds are handled on localvan.in. By making a booking, you agree to the terms below.

Our goal is to ensure fairness and clarity for both customers and vehicle owners.

1Cancellation by the Customer

You may cancel your booking at any time, but the refund amount depends on when the cancellation is made.

a. Free cancellation window

If the cancellation is made within a short time after placing the booking request and before the vehicle owner confirms it, no charges apply.

b. After confirmation

Once the vehicle owner confirms your booking, the following rules apply:

More than 72 hours before trip start

Eligible for partial refund of the advance amount.

24 to 72 hours before trip start

A cancellation fee may apply. Refunds are limited.

Less than 24 hours before trip start

Advance payment is generally non-refundable as the vehicle is reserved for you.

c. No-show

If the customer does not show up or is unreachable at the time of pickup, the advance payment is not refunded.

2Cancellation by the Vehicle Owner

If a vehicle owner cancels due to unavoidable reasons:

  • Customers will receive a full refund of the advance amount.
  • localvan.in may help find an alternative vehicle, subject to availability.
  • Repeated cancellations by owners may lead to account restrictions.

3Refund Timeline

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method.

Processing time: 5 to 7 working days

Bank delays may extend this timeline depending on payment providers.

4Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds are not provided when:

  • Incorrect information is provided during booking
  • Last-minute changes to trip plans
  • Route or timing changes requested after confirmation
  • Misconduct or unsafe behaviour by passengers leading to cancellation
  • Any cancellation after the vehicle has started travelling to the pickup point

5Part Payment Refund Rules

When part payment is used:

  • Only the advance portion is considered for refund evaluation
  • Platform service fees, if any, are non-refundable
  • Owner-specific cancellation policies may apply
  • localvan.in does not hold responsibility for agreements made outside the platform

6Dispute Handling

If any conflict arises between the customer and the vehicle owner:

  • localvan.in may assist in resolving the issue
  • Final decision on refunds depends on evidence, communication history, and the situation
  • The platform does not take liability for losses caused by owner or customer actions

7Refund Responsibility

  • Refunds are initiated by localvan.in only for payments made through the platform
  • If payments are exchanged directly between customer and owner outside the platform, localvan.in is not responsible for any refund or dispute

8Policy Updates

We may revise this policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on the website.
